Taraporewala Aquarium (3.2 km)

Taraporewala Aquarium is situated along the Marine Drive in Mumbai. The late Dr. Rajendra Prasad formally opened it in 1951, this aquarium has interesting specimens of marine and freshwater fish. Constructed at a cost of Rs. 800,000, there are also shell & shell-craft art and fishery by-products on display.

Mani Bhavan Mahatma Gandhi Museum (3.6 km)

Mani Bhavan is situated on Laburnam Road, Mumbai near the Kranti Maidan, where the ‘Quit India’ movement was launched in 1942. It used to be the Mumbai residence of Mahatma Gandhi. It is the building where Mahatma Gandhi stayed during his frequent visits to Mumbai between 1917 and 1934.

National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA)

This is the former Cowasji Jehangir Hall, of the Institute of Science. It has been renovated to serve as a four-storey exhibition hall, displaying the best of Indian contemporary art.

Close by to the Prince of Wales Museum, this gallery is the showcase for contemporary art. The displays change regularly. Outside is the Artist’s Plaza with more paintings on display and sale.

Prince of Wales Museum

Built in the year 1914, the museum is named after king George V who as prince of Wales laid the foundation stone in 1905. One of the most interesting and best museums of India, it has three main sections: Art, Archaeology and Natural History.

Victoria & Albert Museum

This museum houses the archaeological finds, maps and photographs, which depict the history of Mumbai.

Nehru Planetarium (8 km)

The high-rise corncob of the cylindrical Nehru Centre looms north of Mahalaxmi. Here is a planetarium, convention centre, and concert cum- movie auditorium.

Nehru Science Centre (8 km)

The museum here, has a children’s Science park and a permanent gallery, which consists of exhibits relating to the properties of life.

Asiatic Library

The town hall which houses the Asiatic Library with its old parquet floor, spiral staircases and wrought iron loggias is perhaps the most elegant heritage building in Mumbai. It has a collection of 800,000 antique volumes, and ancient coins.
